The boarding school

In a globalized world where people travel, live and work across borders, the boarding school is an important institution that contributes diversity and global impulses from all over the world, while daily life at the boarding school is permeated with Danish culture and traditions such as student democracy and participation. BG's boarding school helps to ensure a relevant offer for young people who need to live at the school while they are taking a youth education with us. The boarding school is a home where the boarding school students thrive and everyone feels safe and secure.
At BG's boarding school, the whole world comes to Birkerød.

Objectives:

At the boarding school, we want care, empathy and tolerance to continue to be evident in relation to the boarding students' behavior towards each other, and that the staff's pedagogical approach continues to support this.

In order to maintain the balance at BG between the national and international school types, we want to create a boarding school with space for more students and to strive to have a larger proportion of boarding school students who attend the STX education.

The physical boarding school environment must be developed in the form of better, more modern and up-to-date facilities in order to be attractive to current and future boarding school students.

The boarding school must strengthen its profile nationally and in expat environments internationally in order to support our high number of student applicants. Therefore, we want the boarding school to be more visible on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

As a modern and climate-conscious boarding school, we want to have an increased focus on sustainability both in relation to consumption, diet and the boarding school students' understanding of the importance of having and making use of this knowledge.

We want the boarding school to have an increased focus on digitalization and the challenges/opportunities from the perspective of young people, including BGConnect and SoMe.

We want to develop and focus on our alumni work so that current and former boarding school students can benefit from this network in the future.

In the 2026-27 school year, work will be initiated on the implementation of the strategy by:

  • having more focus on the large social community by offering more joint trips and experiences for all boarding school students.
  • strengthening the participation of boarding school students by establishing a "student council", which will be responsible for social initiatives and participation in the purchase of materials for the boarding school.
  • having an increased focus on student well-being by having more and comprehensive conversations with all boarding school students, including those who are initially doing well.
  • the boarding school teachers are at work at the same time approximately once a month in the first two semesters to ensure more closeness and social activities.
  • conducting a workshop with external speakers in relation to the challenges of youth life (Sex and society).
the boarding school management will go on a "Road show" to promote the boarding school at "Efterskoler" around the country.
