The following documents must be uploaded as attachments in the online application form
- Latest grade report (if the report card is not in Danish or English, attach a translated version, translated by an authorised translator).
- Reference from present school. The reference should confirm your place and level and describe your academic and social skills and should be written by a teacher, counsellor or head of the school (if the reference is not in Danish or English, attach a translated version, translated by an authorised translator).
- Personal statement: Describe your school background, your skills and interests and why you wish to study the IB Diploma Programme at Birkerød Gymnasium. Max. one page.
- Copy of Sundhedskort, if available
- Copy of passport
All documents must be a PDF and it is important that you name all of the document with your name and document type (eg. John Smith - Reference).
You must upload all the required documents before completing and submitting the application form. If you experience any problems with uploading the files, please send them by email to ibapplication@birke-gym.dk
We usually base our assessment on three criteria
- International school background, i.e. if you have attended an international school or have been taught in English before applying here.
- Ability and skills, i.e. your grades (if your report card is in another language than Danish or English, you must send both a copy of the original and a translated version, translated into English by an authorised translator).
- Need, i.e. you have a special need for an education in English (for instance, being a foreigner who does not speak Danish). The personal statement which we require that you send with the application is therefore of great importance.
If you do not have an international background or a special need to be taught in English, we will look at your motivation for attending pre-IB/IB at BG (ie. personal statement).
If you are not a resident in Denmark: If you are not a Danish or EU citizen, you can only apply for a one-year student visa (cannot be extended) via the Danish immigration service. These visa rules limit your chances of being admitted to Birkerød Gymnasium since you will not be able to finish the IB Diploma programme. This does not apply to non-EU applicants moving to Denmark with their parents.
