Going to a boarding school is a big decision and you will never quite be the same again after such a stay. It is a challenge, where your entire foundation is put to the test. You will get to know other norms, customs and values as you live together with 77 other boarders coming from different environments and cultures to your own. You are a part of a community that is the core to boarding school life.

As a boarder you will reside, eat, work, socialise, laugh, cry and live together in the community where you share your experiences and share the same goal, to obtain a Gymnasium, HF, or IB-diploma qualification. You must be able to manage your time and talents well to find a good balance in your daily day, and the relationship between staff and students is highly based on mutual trust. We all want the best for each other. We look forward to welcoming you to the community at Birkerød Gymnasium's Boarding School.

The Boarding School is situated together with the rest of the school in one of North Zealand's most beautiful areas - yet only a 30 minute ride away from the centre of Copenhagen on the S-train.

The boarding school has a cinema, study room, theater hall, fitness, a club house with all kinds of activtity rooms and a gym, there is always life at the school. We look forward to you becoming part of the community!

How is the atmosphere at the boarding school?

Emilia

At the boarding school there is a very close relationship - we are like a family. And then there is a special and safe relationship with the boarding school teachers, who are really good at being there for us if, for example, you miss your family.

Rooms

We live here

As a student at the boarding school, you have your own room. The room is furnished with a bed, cupboard, desk and a comfortable office chair, which is good to sit in when you have to study. A large part of the rooms have a nice view, so you can look out at nature as the first thing when you wake up.

Daily life

Nature

The boarding school is located in the middle of one of North Zealand's most beautiful natural areas. Here you can spend the afternoon on walks in the forest and get some peace of mind after the school day.

Democracy

The boarding school is like a small democracy. We hold floor meetings and large meetings, we have a council of representatives and an activity council, so we make sure that all the residents of the boarding school can have their say and have an influence on life and everyday life at the boarding school.

Clubs

The students at the boarding school have many different clubs that you can become a part of. It can be anything from basketball, indoor football, yoga, cooking or film club.

Boarding Teachers

There are two boarding school teachers living with their families at the boarding school. You or your parents can always call or email them if needed.

Calm and peace

There is always life at school and lots of social activities you can take part in. But there must also be space to close your door and relax, or immerse yourself in the peace and quiet of the study room.

Traditions and parties

We have a wide range of traditions, and during the year we hold various boarding school parties. At the beginning of the year, there is an intro weekend, where you will be well shaken together with both new and old students, and have lots of good experiences together

Youth mentors

As something special, the boarding school has employed youth mentors to ensure that all boarders at the boarding school have a good time. Our youth mentors have talks with both boarders and parents to make the best plan for your well-being.

Food

Our kitchen always ensures that the food is varied, tasty and nutritious, so that you can have good energy for studying and being active. In addition, we aim to surprise you and expand your knowledge of the many raw materials found in Denmark and other cultures. If you have special requests, we are also happy to listen to them.
