There is action at Birkerød Gymnasium again

Lots of reunions, squeals, hugs and High Fives mixed with a good portion of excited and nervous smiles here and there are what characterized Birkerød Gymnasium, STX, HF, IB and boarding school during the first week of the school year.

On August 11, BG's new students in 1.g, 1.hf and IB arrived at BG, where they were greeted by their intro hosts from the older grades with flags, music and a welcome speech by principal Claus Campeotto, before they met in their basic course classes. In his welcome speech to the students, Claus Campeotto focused on the school's special spirit, culture and community across the different directions and languages.

The next few days will feature many different intro activities, so that the students get to know each other and the school really well.

The culmination of the intro week is the legendary BG speed-dating across classes, years and school types for all 1230 students at the school! Here, the students visit each other's classes and talk about special topics or play nice little intro games. It's a fantastic and well-orchestrated jumble of voices and conversations about everything from favorite music, football players and how many countries you've lived in!

It all ends with a nice Friday café arranged by the school's own student-run Friday café committee. The Friday café takes place in the school's common room and here you can listen to music, play games and generally have fun and meet new friends.

The coming week offers further intro activities in the form of the annual BG class competition for all starting classes, where you compete in team-building activities a la spaghetti tower and cream puff race. Honor is at stake and you can win a cake man for the whole class! Both teachers, intro students and intro committee are ready to help the classes. The week ends with a half-afternoon of well-being, where one of the class's teachers, the class teacher, has arranged a nice afternoon with a focus on both academic and social issues.
