THE LAST WEEK AT BG

The last week at BG is not just a sentence that describes the end of the year. It is a period filled with hard work, nervousness, events and traditions. During the last week, we celebrate the culmination of several years of hard work on both a human and professional level, for both students and teachers! IN THE LAST WEEK, we also say goodbye,to students and teachers.

Last day of school and annual soccer match

The IB students always start first. Before the Easter holidays, they had their last day of school, went on a reading holiday and had their first exams on April 28. Otherwise, the last week starts with one of the absolute highlights of the year first in May. This year, the soccer match between the staff and the graduating students was played at Birkerød Park on Friday, May 2. This year, Coach Tilde had a strong team of teachers, IT people and janitors after a lengthy selection process.

The match this year was played as an 8-man match, which was clearly in the teachers' team's favour, as it was a match with lots of physicality in the form of tackles, ball possession, shot attempts and goals. The staff quickly took the lead 1-0 after a great long shot by Janitor-Dion and then (2-0) on a cutback inside the box by IT-Messi after a great throw-in from Emil M. The students were now under MAX pressure, as in previous years it has been a given that the students win in the end. The students' team came out strong in the second half with a lot of offensive energy and quickly tied it at 2-2 by pure chance...

IT-Messi was not finished with his magic, however, and was brought down in the box by Magnus Ungstrup (3m). IT-Messi himself took the penalty kick, and it now looks like a 3-2 victory for the staff. In the 5th minute of overtime, the student team equalized to 3-3 with a hard but random shot from Vilhelm Søberg (3a), which cut the back of Mikkel M, which was a shame as Jacob otherwise had a great game in goal and gave the teacher team hope of winning the football match of the year.

The decision had to be made in an intense penalty shootout. Even the sure shooters like IT-Messi and Vilhelm Søberg could not stand the pressure and made big saves. The match was decided by the last kick, which Bjørn Bindslev (3a) coolly put into the net. Congratulations students😊

IB Hat days and last Stx/Hf school day From Friday, May 16, we have celebrated our first IB students at Hat Ceremonies after their final exams. According to tradition, the close family was ready with flags and treats - at IB often with a national touch which makes it a colorful celebration. As you can see in the local area, the IB students get their hat after the final exam and can wear them while they wait for the final answers to their exams in early July.

That same Friday, the Stx and Hf graduating students had their last day of school, so it was in full swing throughout the school. On one end, students and their families dressed up for the party. On the other end, 3rd grade and 2nd grade students dressed up for this year's farewell show, where they described their two or three years at BG in song, speech and film. It was festive, often hilarious, lovingly self-deprecating and sarcastic. No one was left out, teachers, management and fellow students – everyone got a loving greeting along the way in the farewell films😊

Exams, pedagogical celebrations and IB reception Monday, May 19th, the Stx and Hf written exams at the school got underway. Written Danish Hf Monday, Stx Tuesday etc. ... ZagZag it went - and that's how it will continue for the next month! The hallways are getting a little quieter, but with an intense and expectantly tense atmosphere everywhere in the school. We have to keep quiet for teachers, guests for the IB Hat Ceremony in the hallways and in 1.hf, 1.g and 2.g, who are still teaching or taking annual exams. Everyone is doing their best!

The week culminated with two celebrations. First, the teachers celebrated that this year's pedagogical candidates Simon and Anna can now finally call themselves qualified upper secondary school teachers and assistant professors. On Friday, May 22, we held the IB Reception, where we celebrated the entire 3u year with speeches from management, teachers and students with the participation of family and friends. Again this year, the whole thing was spiced up with a very nice student speech by Vidhika Krishnan.

And now for the plan for the upcoming events that are relevant to the students, their families and friends.

THE LAST EXAM WEEK

The Hat days From Monday 23 June to Wednesday 25 June, the final exams at Stx and Hf will be held, and the students will be given their caps. The students' families are of course more than welcome to join in saying congratulations and celebrating at the school. Our assembly hall and canteen will be set up for a champagne café. Here, family and relatives can sit with the newly graduated student and enjoy bubbles, strawberries and whatever else goes with it. You decide for yourself what you want to enjoy, of course, but we would like to point out that you must bring your own treats. The exams take place in the rooms in our long hallways, and only the examinee has access here. Family and friends must wait for the students in the common areas. Please be considerate and wait with your hats and shouts until your student is completely out of the hallway.

Hat party at BG On Wednesday, June 25th in the evening, we celebrate our students from all three school types with the traditional hat party at BG. The party is for students and teachers. Here we also practice the march-in for the translocation.

Translocation for Stx, Hf and IB. Friday, June 27th is the big translocation day with a subsequent student wagon ride. The translocation takes place in Birkerød Sports Center at 9:00-11:00. Since there is plenty of space in the Sports Center, there is no upper limit to how many relatives an individual student can bring, but it is usually parents, siblings and possibly grandparents and other very special people for the student who participate. There will be many guests, so come in good time. We will start on time, as we need to have sent the students off in time enough for them to get around to all of you during the day and evening.

We end Friday by sending the students off from the school parking lot. It is festive, and the students appreciate being able to hand over their diplomas and high heels to you before being waved off on the tour, which begins with a walk up through Birkerød city center, where you will be able to see the students dancing around the flagpole at Majpladsen.

There will be free parking in the school parking lot on the hat days. However, we only have a few parking spaces, so come in good time and be prepared to have to park a little further away in the parking lots at Birkerød Idrætscenter or at Søholmskolen, Toftevang branch. However, please note that it is not possible to park in the school parking lot on Friday, as it is reserved for student cars.

We look forward to seeing the happy students fill BG.
