Student Report - English A Shakespeare Workshop
On April 1, 2025, 3.A had an exciting and educational acting class, where we were visited by actor Maja Juhlin, who has many years of experience from the theater. The teaching focused on William Shakespeare and his famous tragedy, Macbeth.

The workshop started with a series of exercises where we trained trust in each other and worked on freeing our bodies and voices. Like Shakespeare and his actors, we had to be brave, dare to throw ourselves into the unknown and challenge our own limits.
It all ended with us making our own short plays, inspired by the conflict in Act 1, Scene 7, where Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to stick to the plan to kill King Duncan. It was a creative process where we interpreted the scene in our own way. Some groups ended up having their scene take place in Copenhagen's nightlife, while others placed the action in the "garden of paradise" or other imaginative settings.
It was an incredibly fun and different experience, where we not only strengthened our English language skills by speaking a lot of English, but also gained a deeper understanding of Shakespeare's complex and fascinating tragedies, and how they are still relevant today. In addition, it was a great experience to see the class in a new and somewhat border-crossing situation, where everyone dared to give themselves to the play.
All in all, it was an inspiring day, where through play and linguistic and physical exercises we gained a unique insight into the world of theater and Shakespeare's timeless stories.
Many thanks to Maja Juhlin for a really good experience.
