Speed dating 2024!
Ready…Set…GO! To the sound of Principal Claus’ booming voice, students across BG began one of the highlights of BG’s intro week: Speed dating!
Every year students – new and continuing – join together to participate in a wild, chaotic and fabulous concoction of conversation and mingling as they hop around from classroom to classroom meeting new students, classes and educational systems. The purpose of speed dating is as always: get to know someone new – in less than three minutes!
On average, each class visits seven other classes and two new educational systems over the course of one session. And this point is central to the heart of BG’s intro week: community across STX, HF and IB.
… But hang on – isn’t it quite overwhelming to sit down and talk to a complete stranger like that “on the spot”? Of course – but here at BG students are known to be risk takers and have an inquisitive approach to learning and engaging with each other. With true BG spirit they approached the task with curiosity and open-mindedness.
After the speed dating activity, the students were ready to join the first Friday café of the year! Here students were able to continue the conversation with new acquaintances in the F-area which was superbly decorated in a Hawaii-theme – sunny enough to ward off even the rainiest Friday afternoon.
Thank you to all of you for another round of speed dating shenanigans. The school year has indeed begun!
