LEGO Master Class at BG

Today, Birkerød Gymnasium was visited by Rasmus Juel Mygind from LEGO, who gave a presentation to all of the school's approximately 100 students with business administration. Rasmus is Vice President, Portfolio Management, and has been with the company for 17 years.

Rasmus Juel Mygind has been part of LEGO's journey since the mid-00s, and is one of the key people in developing the company's product portfolio.

The focus was on LEGO's work with innovation and product development. LEGO is deeply dependent on the development of new products in the toy market, and has approximately 800 products in the portfolio, half of which are annual new launches.

After presenting the classic target groups for LEGO's products, such as LEGO City and LEGO Friends, Rasmus spoke about the company's new investments in products for adults, which, somewhat surprisingly for us, account for a large part of LEGO's growth in recent years. For example, they have introduced a "flower category" with women as the primary target group, which has really caught on. Revenue has grown significantly, and figuratively speaking, LEGO is experiencing annual growth equivalent to the size of a medium-sized Danish company.

LEGO is also focusing on products with digital functions, but LEGO's core is still the brick that lives up to LEGO's name PLAY WELL. LEGO remains very conscious of sticking to the core of the business and the company's values. All collaborations with other brands and companies must therefore be based on good play.

Rasmus' presentation was both lively and academically based, so that the students could relate to and build on their knowledge from their business economics classes. The students asked a lot of qualified questions along the way, and it was a dynamic and present meeting between Rasmus and the students. Rasmus subsequently noted that our business economics students were really interested and talented. Perhaps for some, the start of a business career lies in LEGO's future branch in Copenhagen?

Many thanks to Rasmus Juel Mygind for prioritizing us and our business economics students, which is certainly an exciting and educational experience!
