GRADUATION CEREMONY 2025: THANK YOU FOR THIS YEAR!

And so, the day arrived. Friday, June 27th, 2025, was all about youth, and it is with both heartfelt joy and a touch of sadness that we once again celebrated all of BG’s graduates – all 388 of them! – in Birkerød Multi Hall.

BG’s graduation ceremony, like many of the school’s grand celebrations, is shaped by a number of proud traditions. First came the obligatory procession to the sound of BG’s graduation anthem “This is the Day”, written and composed by math teacher Andrew Archer and English/Religion teacher Stine Helth – and performed by BG’s teacher choir. Principal Claus Campeotto welcomed everyone, followed by the first of three sing-along songs: Danmark, nu blunder den lyse nat.

Next, Principal Claus Campeotto took the podium to deliver this year’s graduation speech. Considering the current global uncertainty, Claus praised the students for their perseverance throughout two or three challenging years and encouraged them to embrace the next chapter in their lives – and to trust themselves and their judgment in a world marked by uncertainty.

After the principal’s speech, it was time for this year’s student address, delivered by Anna Ebro Bindslev from 3k. With its heartfelt message about the importance of community, Anna’s speech was a moving and humorous gift dedicated to all the graduates in the hall – and to the many teachers who had crossed their paths at BG.

The English-language sing-along, Auld Lang Syne, filled the hall, after which several awards and sports trophies were handed out to students who had distinguished themselves during their time at BG. The awards spanned a wide range of categories – from academic excellence to "best classmate."

The grand finale of the day was, of course, the presentation of diplomas, with lively entertainment provided along the way by the school’s IB band, who for the occasion performed The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends.” The event concluded with a final sing-along to Alberte’s “Lyse nætter”, a fitting outro and lead-up to the many graduation trucks waiting in BG’s parking lot.

Once again, this year, every graduation truck passed by the square in central Birkerød, where the graduates joined hands for a short dance around the square before heading out into the summer heat, wearing their red, blue, or international graduation hats. From all of us at BG, we offer one final: THANK YOU FOR TWO/THREE GREAT YEARS! Take care of yourselves and each other. We will miss you and wish you all the best for the future. Please stop by if you're ever near BG – we’d love to hear about your many new adventures. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
